ProjectsGrowth and Yield Modelling Project (SYMFOR) 1997 - 2003The Growth and Yield Modelling Project supported by DFID's Forestry Research Programme closed in 2003. This project represented the final phase of ten years of research and development involving ECTF members and partners in developing countries in Southeast Asia and Latin America. The project has produced growth and yield models for Indonesia (1), Guyana (2), Brazil (2) and Ecuador (1). All of these are available on the SYMFOR web site http://www.symfor.org, as are a number of Technical Notes relating to the development of the model. The outcomes of the project have been applied to support the revision of forest management guidelines in Indonesia and Guyana and support the development of community forestry in Ecuador and Guyana. Whilst support from the Forest Research Programme has been completed, ECTF continues to work with partners in Brazil including Embrapa and the Brazilian National Forest Programme on implementation. A number of Universities in Latin America have also become involved in linking the model to their teaching and training programmes. |
