ECTF Video - Multiplying Tropical Trees: Vegetative Propagation and Selection

The ECTF video Multiplying Tropical Trees: Vegetative Propagation and Selection accompanies the Volume 1 of the manuals and it describes ways of greatly increasing the number, quality and diversity of trees for planting in the semi-arid and humid tropics. Produced with assistance from the Forestry Research Programme (FRP) of the Department for International Development.

Manuals of the Larger and More Important Non-Dipterocarp Trees of Central Kalimantan, Indonesia

The Manuals of the Larger and More Important Non-Dipterocarp Trees of Central Kalimantan, Indonesia were produced by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Forestry Department, Samarinda as part  of the UK-Indonesian Tropical Forest Management Programme undertaken by ECTF. Identification of plant diversity is an essential precursor to conserving or managing it sustainably. This manual allows a range of users in the tropical forests of South East Asia to do just that. Aimed at forest workers rather than taxonomic experts, these two volumes contain information from a wide range of existing sources together with many new observations from the field. Covering some 1000 species of timber size trees (greater than 20 m in height or exceeding 35 cm dbh) occurring in Central Kalimantan, they complement the dipterocarp manuals by Newman et al.  You can obtain more info and order these manuals from the Royal Botanic Garden's publications webpages.
